The Urusei Yatsura release date is on October 13, the Fall 2022 anime season.
The series is a reboot of the 195-episode Lum, the Invader girl TV anime that ran from 1981 to 1986.
The 2022 project coincides with the 100th anniversary of Shogakukan, the publisher that serialized the eponymous manga series by Rumiko Takahashi, which inspired the original TV anime (1978-1987).
The manga has also been adapted into four theatrical films and an OVA series. In short, it’s become a lucrative franchise, as customary for the legendary mangaka Takahashi’s works.
Urusei Yatsura 2022 will feature at least four cours. The first season, which is comprised of two conescutive cours, will be broadcast consecutively via Fuji TV’s Noitamina programming block.
Both HIDIVE and bilibili will stream the series, so pick your vice!

About the Urusei Yatsura manga series
Urusei Yatsura (うる星やつら) is Rumiko Takahashi’s first manga series. It was serialized in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shōnen Sunday from 1978 to 1987, amounting to 366 chapters. The individual chapters have been collected into 34 tankōbon volumes.
The two main characters are Ataru Moroboshi — an average Joe in every sense of the term — and the alien girl Lum, who believes she is Ataru’s wife, due to a misunderstanding.
Takahashi’s works are known far and wide for their comedy moments and Urusei Yatsura is no exception to the rule.
The manga was licensed as Lum and The Return of Lum by Viz Media in the 1990s. In 2019, the publisher re-licensed the series and began releasing 2-in-1 omnibus editions under its original title with new translations.
