The long-expected sequel to The Ancient Magus’ Bride is set to debut in April next year, the Spring 2023 anime season.
Just yesterday, it was officially confirmed that an announcement related to the Mahoutsukai no Yome Season 2 would be coming up on September 5.
So, here we have it, although the precise premiere date is yet to be disclosed.
The announcement was corroborated by Twin Engine, the anime production company that was revealed to have entered a capital tie-up deal with Chinese internet conglomerate Tencent Holdings just days ago.
Take a look at the official teaser trailer:

A congratulatory illustration by Yamazaki Kore, the mangaka behind The Ancient Magus’ Bride series, also popped up to accompany the announcement:
The Ancient Magus’ Bride Season 2 will adapt the Gakuin (Academy) arc of the manga. That’s pretty much where Season 1 ended in a cliffhanger, so it’s not wholly unexpected.
Finally, the Mahoutsukai no Yome Season 1 will be re-broadcast in October to commemorate the happy news.
About The Ancient Magus’ Bride manga
As mentioned above, the eponymous manga series that inspired the TV anime is written and illustrated by Kore Yamazaki.
The Ancient Magus’ Bride manga was originally serialized in Mag Garden’s Monthly Comic Blade (November 2013 to September 2014). Since September 1, 2014, the manga has been serialized in Monthly Comic Blade magazine and digitally on the Monthly Comic Blade website. The individual chapters have been collected into 15 tankōbon volumes.
The series is licensed by Seven Seas Entertainment in North America.
The plot follows Chise Hatori, an orphaned Japanese girl who sells herself at an auction, hoping to find a place to call home. Upon being bought by a humanoid magician (“magus”), Chise moves to London and starts a new life there.
Mahoutsukai no Yome is both a romance- and a slice-of-life manga, different from other works blending the two genres, in more ways than one. It’s a worthy read; the anime adaptation hasn’t let the fans down like some other promising titles, either.
That being said, stay tuned for additional news on The Ancient Magus’ Bride Season 2!
