The Spy Room anime is Assassination Classroom and Spy x Family rolled into one. Having the best spies is the only way to win in a world without war.
Most details about the Spy Room anime are unknown, but we have a trailer and plenty of media to dive into. So, are you ready to save the world?
What is Spy Room about?
Spy Room is a world where the powers have decided that wars are pointless. But nations still disagree, so they decided to create a program to train spies using young teenagers.
Klaus is the best of the best, and he’s been given a mission. Infiltrate an enemy country with a group of young, inexperienced girls and return alive.
Did I mention this mission is 99% impassable, and the girls are expected to die? Studio Feel is producing the anime, and Keiichiro Kawaguchi is the director.
Shinichi Inostume is the scriptwriter, and Sumie Kinoshita handles the character designs. Yuichiro Yumehara is the voice of Klaus, and Sora Amamiya is Lily.
What else do we know about Spy Room?
There are seven light novels and two collections of short stories in Japan. Yen Press is translating the light novels and manga, with volumes 1 and 2 of the light novels available now.
Volume 3 is coming on May 17, 2022, and Volume 4 will be here on September 20, 2022. Kaname Seu illustrates the manga, and the second volume will arrive in English on June 21, 2022.
Will Lily and the other girls survive the training and complete the mission? Will the anime follow the manga or the light novels?
I haven’t been able to read the light novels. But I couldn’t stop reading volume 1 of the manga and I usually only read the first three chapters.
But each chapter focused on a different girl and pulled me in. The official Twitter for the Spy Room anime will have original illustrations each week.
The first is the image in the middle of the article. I don’t know if we’ll see the girls dress up in the anime, but I can’t wait to find out!
Spy Room has everything a spy show should have, exciting characters, a rich plot to build on, and a message about valuing oneself. The girls see themselves as incompetent spies, but Klaus doesn’t share their views and seeks to change them in positive ways.
