Shin Ikki Tousen will hit TV screens soon and likely provide martial fans with the fighting action they’ve been craving. According to a recent tweet from the official Twitter account, the TV anime broadcast begins on May 17, 2022, at 8:30 PM.
However, an advanced screening of the first episode will appear on March 27, 2022. The entire series will consist of only three episodes and conclude on May 31, 2022. Also, an eye-catching key visual showing the main characters has made the rounds and excited fans.
And the fanfare doesn’t come as a surprise, considering that it’s part of the popular Ikki Tousen franchise, renowned for its large-breasted schoolgirl fighters as its main draw.
The original manga series written by Yuji Shiozaki launched in Japan on April 26, 2000, and concluded on August 26, 2015. Its serialization began in Comic GUM, and Wani Books published 24 volumes of the manga. Tokyopop licensed the series and published it in North America and the United Kingdom but under a different title: Battle Vixens.
But the manga series didn’t end there — as its sequel — Shin Ikki Tousen (New Battle Vixens), began serialization in Young King OURs magazine on November 30, 2015.
What is the story of Shin Ikki Tousen?
According to a translated excerpt from the official website, the story revolves around the following:
“A masterpiece of high school girl hyper battle ‘Ikki Tousen’ that revives the soul of the hero of the Three Kingdoms that colored history. As the new chapter, it is decided to animate “Shin Ikki Tousen” serialized in Young King Ours! The “death battle” that Arms deals with, far surpassing the fierce battles of the beautiful fighters, so far, begins here!”

Rion Kujou, responsible for storyboards on the Naruto TV anime series (Fall 2002), directs Shin Ikki Tousen.
