The Sasaki and Miyano: Graduation Movie (Sasaki to Miyano: Sotsugyou-hen) premiere date will be on February 17, 2023, the Winter 2023 anime season.
Note that this is the Japanese theatrical release date — we have yet to receive news when (and where) a subbed version will be made available for international fans.
The news was revealed on October 7, 2022, via a brand-new trailer PV, which you can see below:
In addition to the trailer PV, a key visual and commemorative illustration by Shō Harusono — the author behind the original manga series that inspired the anime adaptation — also surfaced on October 7.
Sasaki and Miyano: Graduation Movie — What we know so far
Sasaki to Miyano: Sotsugyou-hen was announced on July 10, 2022, whereby it was also revealed that it will screen alongside a Hirano and Kagiura short, which is based on the eponymous spin-off manga by the same author.
Shinji Ishihira is directing the anime movie at Studio DEEN. Ishihira also directed the Sasaki and Miyano anime series (January–March 2022).
The main staff members will be reprising their roles for Graduation Movie, as follows:
- Takahiro Ueno — assistant director
- Masaki Mayuzumi — art director
- Maki Fujii —character designer
- Imazato Katsuragi — color designer
- Kana Shibue (Devils’ Line) — music composer
Yoshiko Nakamura, who handled the series composition for the anime series will be the movie’s scriptwriter (Yoshiko Nakamura handled this role for the TV anime). Daisuke Horino is joining the staff as the photography director.

About the Sasaki and Miyano manga
Sasaki and Miyano is a shounen-ai (BL without explicit scenes) manga series by Shō Harusono. It has been serialized via the pixiv Comic website since 2016. Media Factory is publishing the series; so far, the individual chapters have been collected into nine tankōbon volumes.
Yen Press has licensed the series for an English release (trade paperback and digital versions available). The English version of the manga is up to Volume 6 as of August 2022.
Yen Press has also licensed the Hirano and Kagiura spin-off manga.
As for the plot, it follows the two titular characters, Sasaki and Miyano. Miyano is a self-proclaimed BL expert who doesn’t realize he is soon to become involved in a BL romance himself. Sasaki is his cool senpai who finds himself falling for Miyano.
The Hirano and Kagiura spin-off manga follows the two titular supporting characters, Taiga and Akira.
