The announcement of Pop Team Epic 2 was made on December 25, 2021. Merry Christmas, I guess?

“Pop Team Epic. The second series of the TV animation will be produced!” the official Twitter account stated. “2022. Scheduled to be broadcast like shit!”

During Anime Japan 2022 on March 26, 2022, the time frame was confirmed.

The Pop Team Epic Season 2 trailer announced the new anime TV series. The live-action portion of the trailer featured Shouta Aoi.

The studio and main staff that is making Pop Team Epic 2 haven’t been announced yet.

The first season of the anime TV series was produced by Japanese animation Studio Kamikaze Douga, which is best known for its Batman Ninja anime movie in addition to contributing to the Star Wars: Visions anime series.

The first season of the anime project was helmed by directors Jun Aoki (Gal & Dino) and Aoi Umeki. Director/producer/episode director Aoki handled a wide range of roles, including key animation, storyboarding, director of photography, character design, and even writing the script and series composition. The man must be insane. Or, he has a mutant third arm helping him do all that work. We’re not sure.

Composer Gin (Aho Girl, Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro Season 2) created the music.

The Pop Team Epic Season 2 OP (opening) is “Endless Love”.

The ED (ending) theme song music “Friend Peace” has two versions. The first is the female version:

The second Pop Team Epic Season 2 ED is the male version:

For the first season, the Pop Team Epic OP “Pop Team Epic” was performed by Sumire Uesaka (after the fakeout Drop Stars from Episode 1). Variations of “Poppy Pappy Day” were performed by Popuko (Yui Makino), Pipimi (Yui Watanabe) for the ED.

The first season was originally teased on April Fool’s Day 2017 as an anime adaptation of the Hoshiiro Girldrop manga chapters. Episodes 13 and 14 were also released as a special program on April Fool’s Day 2019.

The first season was streaming on Netflix, Crunchyroll, FUNimation, and Toonami Adult Swim (not Hulu, VRV, or Amazon Prime Video).

The first season was 14 episodes long. The first 12 episodes were released back in Winter 2018, and then Episodes 13 and 14 were released later on January 7 and March 25, 2018, respectively.

This article provides everything that is known about Pop Team Epic Season 2 (Poputepipikku Season 2) and all related news. As such, this article will be updated over time with news, rumors, and analysis. Meanwhile, let’s delve down into what is known for certain.

Crunchyroll’s Pop Team Epic Season 2 English dub release date confirmed

The first season of the anime TV series was originally simulcast by FUNimation. Eventually, a Pop Team Epic English dub was released.

The Pop Team Epic dub has a crazy number of cast members since each episode and variation of the episode had different English voice actors for Popuko and Pipimi, never mind the secondary characters. So we’re not going to bother listing them all here since it would be pages upon pages of names and you’d probably leave the article and not click on our ads. And since we need that small-and-ever-shrinking pile of cash for making our living that simply just wouldn’t do.

Now that Funimation is being phased out by Sony, Crunchyroll took over the role. The Pop Team Epic Season 2 English dub release date on Crunchyroll was on October 15, 2022.

This story will be updated once it’s officially confirmed by Crunchyroll (or not, if I’m feeling lazy). I’m not lazy! Who wrote that!? And to prove that point here is some of the dub actors:

  • Gwendolyn Lau — Popuko A
  • Lydia Mackay — Pipimi A
  • Bill Jenkins — Popuko B
  • Greg Dulcie — Pipimi B
  • Christopher R. Sabat — Popuko (Bob)
  • Ian Sinclair — Pipimi (Bob)
  • Rachel Thompson — Rabbit

He actually copied and pasted that from someone else. Stop that!

Hopefully, future English dubbing will be faster once the COVID pandemic winds down and becomes endemic. In order to protect voice actors from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, they were forced to temporarily pause production or take extra safety precautions that resulted in slowed work.

Many English dubbing houses have experienced delays since voice actors often travel to the recording studio. By mid-2022 Crunchyroll began switching from remote recording to in-studio recording again (most of the work is done in their Texas studio).

Poputepipikku manga is already up to Pop Team Epic Season 3 and 4

The story (if you can call it that) for the anime TV series is ever-so-loosely based on the Pop Team Epic manga series by writer and illustrator Bkub Okawa. The manga series has been serialized on Takeshobo’s Manga Life Win website since 2014.

Like a horde of hungry Zerglings, the Pop Team Epic manga comes out in waves to slowly devour our souls. The first season ended in 2015. Then Pop Team Epic “Season 2” launched upon the unwitting world in 2016. Pop Team Epic Season 3 then followed in 2017.

Each manga season was released as a single volume. Each book contains 15 chapters.

The official Pop Team Epic English translation was released in North America by publisher Vertical.

In January 2018, a comic anthology of the Hoshiiro Girldrop manga was released, which included comics from other manga artists.

Oh, and the original creator and the magazine really want to go all the way to Pop Team Epic Season 6. To the moon! (I’d embed the included image but it’s too rude for our I’m-looking-down-on-you-weebs standards.)

Why we predicted the Poputepipikku Season 2 release date would be in Fall 2022

How did we predict that Poputepipikku Season 2 is coming out in Fall 2022?

We’re reverse isekai wizards! Bow down to us, mere mortals, and…

[Bash! Clang! The editorial team at Anime Geek apologizes for the writers trying to reveal our secrets. We have sacked the writers. And if that doesn’t work we’ll sack the guy who did the sacking.]

Considering the timing of the announcement was December 25, 2021, we successfully predicted that it was very likely that the second season would be streaming in the second half of 2022.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go write a bucket list. Pop Team Epic 2 releasing in 2022 has to be a sign of the apocalypse.
