In order to prepare for the One Piece Final Saga, the creator of the popular manga is taking a 4-week break starting on June 27, 2022, and ending with the One Piece 1054 release date on July 25, 2022. It’s always sad to hear that your favorite series is on a hiatus, but after working almost non-stop, Eiichiro Oda deserves a break.

At least we know we’ll be getting a couple more chapters before the break, and we can binge on One Piece content while we wait.

What’s in store for One Piece’s future?

There are many reasons why Oda wants to take a break. “Four weeks! Give me time to steady my breathing!” This quote and more information can be found on One Piece’s official Twitter.

The Tweets say he needs time to prepare for One Piece’s 25th anniversary and the release of the upcoming anime film ONE PIECE FILM RED. Oda also plans to visit Africa to supervise Netflix’s upcoming One Piece live-action series adaptation.

Oda wanted to take this trip earlier but was prevented due to the pandemic. Hopefully, he’ll be able to get plenty of rest since filming for the live-action has already begun.

Oda stated in 2019 that he plans to end One Piece in five years. However, according to Twitter, Oda intends to reorganize the last One Piece Final Saga so he can close it as soon as possible.

There will be a stream on YouTube and Twitter on June 8, 19:00 JST, or 3:00 PT. The program will cover:

  1. Gordon’s voice cast
  2. Uta’s voice cast
  3. Main trailer
  4. Theme song information
  5. Details of the Uta Project
  6. Poster visual drawn by Oda
  7. Announcement section
  8. The latest news on the original manga

The end is coming

Oda has spent almost 25 years on One Piece and wants to end it properly. But fans don’t have to start panicking because we can look forward to reading the One Piece manga for quite some time due to the terms used.

How? Because Arc and Saga are different things. One of the definitions for Arc is the development or resolution of the narrative or principal theme.

Sagas are a long story of heroic achievement, a long, involved story, account, or a series of incidents. There are currently 10 sagas in One Piece, and each saga is made of several arcs that can range from 46 chapters to 102 or more.

We’re in the Wano Arc, but according to the wiki, there are two more sagas planned. The Sea of Survival: Super Rookies Saga and The Final Sea: The New World Saga.

Will One Piece end within Oda’s plan of five years? I don’t know, but I plan to enjoy the voyage and see if Luffy becomes King of the Pirates.
