Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece Film Red opened in China and South Korea last week. And now that we have their box office numbers, it seems to be a hit.
One Piece Film Red topped the Chinese box office over the weekend. The movie received a Thursday opening as it premiered in China on December 1, 2022.
According to data from consultancy Artisan Gateway, One Piece Film Red earned $7.9 million between Friday and Sunday and $10.5 million over its opening four days.
For the past two weekends, Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween had held the top rank, but this weekend it slipped to second place. The movie earned $1.8 million this weekend for a cumulative of $19.4 million since its release on November 18, 2022.
One Piece Film Red in South Korea
The One Piece movie opened in South Korea on Wednesday, November 20, 2022. The movie earned $566,000 over the weekend and $991,000 over five days. One Piece Film Red ranked fifth at the Korean box office over the weekend.

One Piece Film Red is the highest-grossing movie of 2022 in Japan, overtaking Jujutsu Kaisen 0. It is also the sixth highest-grossing anime movie of all time in Japan and the ninth highest-grossing movie of all time in Japan.
