The Quintessential Quintuplets official Twitter account posted a new key visual for the upcoming movie set to release later this year on May 20, 2022. This is the third key visual released of the movie so far, this one featuring the Quints laughing under a cherry blossom tree together.

This movie will reportedly finish the story of Futaro Uesugi and the 5 Nakano sisters Itsuki, Miku, Ichika, Nino, and Yotsuba, making it to be the last entry in the whole franchise with it assumed to be covering the conclusion of the manga.

You can take a look at the key visual showcased in the tweet from the official account below:

It will be interesting to see how they choose to adapt the work of the franchise moving forward — we’re all for the upcoming movie!

Just what will the upcoming Quintessential Quintuplets movie cover?

Before reading on, please be wary of potential spoilers for the movie as we will be discussing the events of the manga that haven’t yet been covered by the anime.

Last year, TBS released the following trailer for the upcoming movie:

This teaser trailer features a very specific scene from the manga — the scene where Fuutarou picks one of the five girls to go and date. It’s implied from this, then, that the movie will cover up to the end of the series. While that is a lot of material to cover — several arcs, in fact! — it’s not unheard of for an anime movie to condense entire volumes into a single movie, for better or for worse. It’s entirely possible that they pull a Date-A-Live and cover the remainder of the series in about 2 hours of runtime.

While it’s not clear just how exactly they plan on pulling this off, it’ll be exciting to see how they pull off the most iconic scene in the manga. Can’t wait for best girl to win!

Will there be a Season 3 of the anime?

As this movie appears to cover the entire rest of the series not covered by seasons 1 or 2 so far, it’s unlikely that there will be a third season to the anime. However, it is possible that the movie may get a sequel or a side story, a la Non Non Biyori’s latest venture into anime-original side story content for movies. Still, it’s unlikely that the series will continue on following this movie – it seems to be set up to be a conclusive finish to one of the longest-running harem romcoms in recent memory.
