Detective Conan: The Culprit Hanzawa manga
Detective Conan: The Culprit Hanzawa is a spin-off manga based on the famous Detective Conan manga series (also known as “Case Closed”) by Gosho Aoyama that debuted in 1994. It’s still ongoing!
As of September 2022, the individual chapters have been collected into 102 tankōbon volumes!
Needless to say, a title that’s been around for so long must be popular, and Detective Conan is no exception to the rule. In actual fact, it just so happens to be one of the best-selling manga series of all time.
As for the spin-off, Detective Conan: The Culprit Hanzawa (探偵コナン 犯人の犯沢さん, Meitantei Konan Hannin no Hanzawa-san) is written and illustrated by Mayuko Kanba and follows the silhouetted ‘criminal’ who debuted in Aoyama’s original series.
The Culprit Hanzawa has been serialized in Shōnen Sunday S under Shogakukan’s Shōnen Sunday Comics label since May 2017. The chapters have been collected into seven tankōbon volumes as of September 2022.
Another Detective Conan Spin-Off is available on Netflix
In the meantime, there are other Detective Conan spin-offs on Netflix, notably Detective Conan: Zero’s Tea Time.
The Tea Time is inspired by another Case Closed spin-off manga (eponymous with the anime), which is written and illustrated by Takahiro Arai. It originally aired for six episodes on Tokyo MX, BS Nippon, and ytv from April 5 to May 10, 2022. Netflix streamed Zero’s Tea Time outside of Japan on July 29, 2022.
The series was directed by Tomochi Kosaka at TMS Entertainment, with Yoshiko Nakamura having handled the series scripts. Toru Furuya lent his voice to detective Rei Furuya.
