At the Gundam Conference AUTUMN 2022, it was announced that Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury anime will be split into two cours.
The anime is set to premiere on October 2, 2022, and its first cour will conclude in December 2022. The Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury Part 2 release date is in April 2023, the Spring 2023 season, and will broadcast in Japan at the same schedule as the first cour.
The TV show will be broadcast during the Nichi-5 slot on Sundays on the 28 MBS/TBS-affiliated TV stations nationwide in Japan.
Between the two cours, i.e., from January to March 2023, Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway, Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative, and Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt anime films will air as TV editions of 4 episodes.
Also, on BS11 at the GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE x BS11 Gundam Hour, past works of the Gundam series will continue to be broadcast on Fridays and Saturdays at 19:00 (JST). It will rebroadcast Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury, as well as Mobile Suit Gundam Seed and Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny.
Furthermore, from October 2, 2022, special episodes of past works in the series will air on the official YouTube channel of Gundam.

Hiroshi Kobayashi (Kiznaiver) is directing the anime with Ryo Ando (Demi-chan wa Kataritai) at Sunrise studio. Ichiro Okouchi (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion) is in charge of the series scripts. Marie Tagashira, Juro Toida, and Hirotoshi Takaya are designing the characters with the original character design by Mogumo. Takashi Ohmama is composing the music.
More about the new Gundam 2023 series
Yoshiyuki Tomino and Sunrise created the Gundam series in 1979. It features giant robots with the name “Gundam.” The TV anime series Mobile Suit Gundam defined the mecha anime genre.
Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury or Kido Senshi Gundam: Suisei no Majo is the fifteenth mainline entry in Sunrise’s Gundam franchise.
It will also be the first new TV anime in the franchise since Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, which premiered in October 2015. This makes the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury the first new Gundam television anime series in seven years.
The anime was first announced back in September 2021 during the Dai 2-kai Gundam Conference Livestream event. In March 2022, during the 3rd Gundam Conference, a teaser visual and a teaser PV were released with the announcement of a prologue episode.
