The production committee behind the upcoming Urusei Yatsura anime series revealed three additional cast members (see above) and character design for another one on September 22, 2022.
The new seiyuu are:
- Kenta Miyake — Onsen Mark
- Takahiro Sakurai — Tsubame Ozuno
- Marina Inoue — Ryouko Mendou
Kenta Miyake is known for having voiced Naruto’s Jirobo; Takahiro Sakurai voiced Berserk’s Griffith (2016), and Marina Inoue voiced Amane in Hunter x Hunter.
The new character design is for Kotatsu Neko (“Kotatsu the Cat”). We’ll have to wait a bit more to learn who will voice the witty white cat.
The Urusei Yatsura release date is on October 13, 2022, the Fall 2022 anime season.
The series is a reboot of the Lum, the Invader girl TV anime that ran for 195 episodes from 1981 to 1986. The reboot coincides with the 100th anniversary of Shogakukan, the publisher that serialized the source manga series from 1978 to 1987.
Urusei Yatsura has also been adapted into four theatrical films and an OVA series.

About the Urusei Yatsura manga series
Urusei Yatsura (うる星やつら) is the first manga series written and illustrated by Rumiko Takahashi. It was serialized in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shōnen Sunday from 1978 to 1987, amounting to 366 chapters. The individual chapters have been collected into 34 tankōbon volumes.
The plot follows Ataru Moroboshi and the alien Lum, who believes she is his wife due to a misunderstanding.
Like all Takahashi’s works, Urusei Yatsura features humorous references to Japanese mythology and is abundant in puns.
The manga series was originally licensed as Lum and The Return of Lum by Viz Media in the 1990s. In 2019, the publisher re-licensed the series and began releasing 2-in-1 omnibus editions under its original title with new translations.
