According to an anime news leaker, a Kaiju No. 8 anime is reportedly in the works. The leaker found that the registrar behind the domain name for kaiju8gou.com (Kaiju no. 8) had the same identifying information as the pages listed for Spy x Family. Additionally, they found that Sousou no Frieren had the same information as well under frieren.jp, which could suggest an upcoming anime adaptation of that work as well.
While Anime Geek couldn’t confirm the information firsthand (since the leak was published, the domains of the websites listed have been scrubbed of the aforementioned identifying information,) the leaker has a strong history of correct predictions. Additionally, with Anime Japan 2022 swinging in full force, it’s not entirely unlikely that they might drop the news of the adaptation in the next few days.

What is Kaiju No. 8 about?
Tokyo has found itself overrun with Kaiju, monstrous Godzilla-like entities that are set to take out as much of the human race as they can. To stop them, the Kaiju Defense Force was set up to take care of the threat.
Kaiju No. 8 follows Kafka, a 30-year-old man on the kaiju cleanup crew with big dreams of joining his childhood friend as a captain in the Kaiju Defense Force. To this end, he keeps on trying to get into the squad but always flunks out of the new recruits for one reason or another, most typically his low sync rates. This year is his last shot to get into the squadron before he ages out of recruitment.
On his way back home, he gets possessed by a daikaiju, one of the legendary numbered kaijus, and gains the ability to transform into a kaiju. Will this affect his ability to get into the KDF? Only time will tell!
When will the anime be officially announced?
As the anime hasn’t yet been officially announced, it’s hard to know when the Kaiju No. 8 anime will be officially announced. However, it’s expected that the anime might be announced this weekend at Anime Japan 2022, one of the biggest industry events in Japan for all upcoming anime news.
It’s entirely possible that the series, being one of the highest-selling manga in Japan, will have its adaptation announced this weekend. Hopefully, that announcement comes sooner rather than later!
