The I’m the Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss light novels
The I’m the Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss (悪役令嬢なのでラスボスを飼ってみました, Akuyaku Reijō Nanode Rasubosu o Katte Mimashita) TV anime is based on the eponymous light novel series written by Sarasa Nagase and illustrated by Mai Murasaki.
The series was originally (May 2017) serialized on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō user-generated novel publishing website. In September 2017, Kadokawa Shoten took over and has published nine volumes since, under its Kadokawa Beans Bunko imprint.
The light novels inspired a manga adaptation by Anko Yuzu (2018-2019). The individual chapters have been collected in three tankōbon volumes.
Yen Press has licensed both the light novels and the manga adaptation in North America.
The plot follows a terminally ill girl, who plays otome games to escape her predicament. One day she wakes up as the protagonist of one of them, namely Aileen Lauren d’Autriche. Her virtual predicament is not a merry one, but being familiar with the routes, she sets out to seek the help of Claude Jean Ellmeyer, who just so happens to be the demon king.
If it sounds like a cliché plot, that’s because it is. Hopefully, the TV anime will provide a new take and original viewpoints.
