Anime fans watching Haikyuu!! Season 4 (To The Top) in 2020 won’t have to wait for Haikyuu!! Season 5 to watch new episodes. Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 32, 2020 has officially announced that the popular volleyball anime will release Haikyuu!! Season 4 Part 2 in October 2020, the fall 2020 anime season.
The only bad news is that the Haikyuu Season 4 Part 2 release date was delayed for a time by the SARS-COV-2 coronavirus pandemic. (The Haikyuu manga’s ending was also confirmed.)
Haikyuu!! To The Top will be a split-cour anime, which means the fourth season will have a Part 2. What’s a “cour,” you might ask?
For those unfamiliar with the lingo, a “cour” is a three-month block of TV broadcasting based on the physical seasons usually composed of 10 to 13 episodes. A “split-cour” is where a single anime season takes a multi-month break before resuming TV broadcasting.
In this case, the first 13 episodes of Haikyuu!! To The Top aired from January 10, 2020, through April 3, 2020. Each episode aired on late Friday nights, Japanese time, which is effectively early Saturday morning past midnight.
On July 6, 2020, the official Twitter page teased anime fans with a new key visual of “Inarizaki High School, which has the strongest twins in the high school volleyball world”.
They also announced plans to rebroadcast the first episode of Haikyuu!! To The Top on Japanese TV stations.
On July 13, 2020, a Haikyuu!! To The Top Part 2 trailer was released.
A second Haikyuu!! Season 4 Part 2 trailer was released in late September 2020.
The Haikyuu!! To The Top opening (OP) theme song music was “Phoenix” as performed by Burnout Syndromes, while the Haikyuu S4 ending (ED) theme song music was “Spirit of Decisive Battle (Kessen Spirit)” as performed by CHiCO with HoneyWorks.
The Haikyuu!! Season 4 Part 2 opening is “Breach” by SUPER BEAVER, while the ending is “One Day” by SPYAIR. The opening is featured in the trailer video above, while the ending is in the trailer video below.

Haikyuu!! To The Top Part 2 release date confirmed in fall 2020
Haikyuu!! Season 4 Part 2 was originally scheduled to release in July 2020, the summer 2020 anime season. However, the anime production committee decided to delay the release of Haikyuu!! Season 4 Episode 14 in order to ensure the safety of the anime studio staff.
In the worst-case scenario, it could have been pushed back into 2021. Fortunately, most anime series have only been delayed by a single season.
The official announcement of the Haikyuu!! To The Top Part 2 release date came from a July 2020 issue of Weekly Shonen Jump. Based on leaked scans of the magazine, the second cour will be streaming on October 2, 2020, the fall 2020 anime season.
The anime is broadcasting 2:25 AM Japanese time in the early morning, which is October 3, 2020, effectively. That means it is airing at 1:25 PM EST in the United States.
Haikyuu!! Season 5 anime necessary to finish the Tokyo Nationals story arc
Based on the pacing of the anime in the past, it’s a good thing that Haikyuu!! Season 4 will have 25 episodes in total split between the two cours. The story for the new anime season will jump straight to the Tokyo National Championship story arc from Haruichi Furudate’s Haikyu!! manga series.
That means the fourth season is skipping some manga chapters. However, the story gap between the third season and Haikyuu!! To The Top will be bridged by two new OVA episodes called “Land vs. Sky” and “The Volleyball Way,” released on Blu-ray/DVD on January 22, 2020.
It’s also expected that the second half of the Tokyo Nationals arc will be adapted by the Haikyuu!! Season 5 anime. Stay tuned!
