On October 25, 2022, @FLAGLIA_project announced on Twitter that FLAGLIA anime project is coming. The anime links musicals with original animations and is set in a modern world and the past.
We have some of the staff, the animation studio, and two voice actors. Will the FLAGLIA project inspire more musicals?
What do we know about FLAGLIA?
Itsuro Kawasaki is directing, and Studio Gaina is doing the animation. Madoka Takadono is writing the scripts and is the original creator.
Jiwataneho is the original character designer, and Eriko Ito is also working on character designs. Yoonhak and Yoshikuni Dochin are the only confirmed voice actors.
Gaina was established in 2015 and has undergone ownership and name changes since. The Kinoshita Group acquired and renamed it Gaina to make it a pillar of its anime production and expand its business.
Gaina worked with Feel on The Yakuza’s Guide to Babysitting and has made several anime on its own. Forest of Piano, Cap Revolution Bottleman DX, Hanabi-chan is Often Late, and another project, Rescue Acadamy, is yet to be announced.
Yoshikuni Dochin is part of the duo pop band CHEMISTRY and has appeared in Aircraft Carrier Ibuki, The Mourner, The Unfading Dream We Have, Snow On The Blades, Manatsu no Orion, and Kamen Rider Ex-Aid: True Ending.
What do we know about the staff?
Itsuro Kawasaki is a director, animator, storyboard artist, and screenwriter from Tokyo. He directed The Yakuza’s Guide to Babysitting, True Cooking Master Boy, The Morose Mononokean 2, and more.
Madoka Takadono has written Devils and Realist manga which is also an anime, Hakushakuke Goyatashi manga, and wrote the screenplay for episode 6 of Polyphonica. Eriko Ito has worked on episodes 8, 11-12 of the Another anime, Danchigai, Hamatora, and more.
FLAGLIA appears to be Jiwataneho’s first anime, and with so many talented people helping them, it’s sure to turn out well. Music and animation have been entwined for years.
And the selection of music-based anime and anime with great soundtracks is enormous. But this is the first time I’ve heard of an anime musical that wasn’t Disney or Pixar.
Will FLAGLIA be the birth of a new sub-genre? What kind of music will it have, and what does the child have to do with it?
We’ll have to wait and see, but you can bet that we’ll update you as soon as we get more information.
