The Fairy Tail 2018 release date has finally been officially confirmed by anime studios A-1 Pictures and Bridge. Fans have been waiting a long time for Hiro Mashima’s manga series to be adapted all the way to the ending in Chapter 545. But will the series finish off the final season with Fairy Tail 2019 or Fairy Tail 2020?

The Fairy Tail 2018 anime will begin airing in Japan on October 7,l 2018 (for more details about Fairy Tail Season 3 please click the link). Avex Pictures also released a teaser visual that shows Natsu Dragneel holding a torn Fairy Tail guild flag.

The reason why Fairy Tail 2018 might release the final episode in 2020 is due to the third and final season having 125 manga chapters worth of story to adapt. The final story arc is quite hefty in comparison to previous plots in the manga, which ended in July of 2017. Based on the way the first two seasons adapted the manga series, it is very likely that Fairy Tail 2018 will have at least around 60 episodes and that’s assuming no filler episodes.

The Fairy Tail 2018 anime will be a weekly broadcast. The first two seasons often went on short broadcasting hiatus for a week or two, so it’s possible the finale will air around November or December of 2019. However, if there is any substantial story filler at all, then the anime series’ finale could easily slip into the winter of 2020.

A-1 Pictures and Bridge have already confirmed that most of the cast and staff for previous seasons will return for Fairy Tail 2018.

  • Tetsuya Kakihara as Natsu
  • Aya Hirano as Lucy
  • Rie Kugimiya as Happy
  • Yuichi Nakamura as Gray
  • Sayaka Ohara as Erza

The biggest change from the first season is the addition of the staff from the second animation Bridge, which is known for providing assistance on popular anime like Sword Art Online and Dragon Ball Super. Otherwise, director Shinji Ishihira is helming Fairy Tail 2018, Masashi Sogo is writing series composition, Shoji Hata handles sound design, and Yasuharu Takanashi is composing the music.

Thankfully, the long wait for the Fairy Tail 2018 release date is finally coming to an end. Let’s hope anime fans may also look forward to Fairy Tail Season 4, which would be based on the new manga sequel Fairy Tail: 100 Year Quest. Stay tuned!
