Engage Kiss looks like your average romantic comedy for most of its trailer, but the end shows more than that. We’re on a floating island, and demons are trying to kill us.
Not much is known about this original anime, but I’m looking forward to learning more about it. The art style looks good, and the demons look interesting.
There’s a scene in the trailer that looks like a man is transforming into a demon. Engage is set to come out on July 3, 2022, but hopefully, we won’t have to wait long for more details.
What do we know about Engage Kiss’ story so far?
Engage Kiss takes place in Baylong City, an artificial island floating above the Pacific Ocean, to gather a new natural resource called orgonium independently.
But this freedom turns into a curse as an outbreak of demons (also called D Disasters) spreads across the city. Our main protagonist is Shu Ogata.
He currently runs a small Private Military Company (PMC) with a demon girl named Kisara. Unfortunately, the success of their PMC is hard to determine because Shu spends most of his money on daily shopping sprees.
Kisara’s true identity isn’t well known to the masses, but she has strong feelings for Shu. Judging by the trailer, Shu feels the same way, but Kisara doesn’t like it when other women approach Shu.
This is hilarious as we’re introduced to Ayano Yugiri, Shu’s ex-girlfriend and the daughter of the owner of the major PMC that Shu used to work for before he became independent. Did their relationship have anything to do with Shu’s new business?
The third leading lady is a nun called Sharon Holygrail. It’s not known if Sharon will develop romantic feelings for Shu, but we know the order she works for is the largest exorcist organization in the world.
Anipliex created Engage Kiss, and A-1 Pictures is bringing this anime to life. Tomoya Tanaka is the director, Fumiaki Maruto is the writer, and Yoshiaki Fujisawa is in charge of the music.
Soma Saito is the voice of Shu, Saya Aizawa is Kisara, Lynn is Ayano, and Rumi Okubo is Sharon. No word yet on how many episodes there will be.
Engage Kiss has a video game
According to the official wiki, Engage Kiss is part of a project called Project Engage and will have a mobile game called Engage Kill. Square Enix is producing it, and the main character is a young girl named Chloe Tan, who Arisa Kori voices.
Will Engage Kill be a romantic comedy or something else? The official website for Engage Kiss states that Chloe will be in charge of Yusa Kari.
Will the game come out at the same time as the anime? Will we get to play Engage Kill on consoles or PC? On December 6, 2021, Square Enix trademarked Engage Kill, and Capcom trademarked Shu.
Does this mean that Engage Kill is a companion story instead of a sequel/prequel? Hopefully, we’ll find out before summer hits.
