The Call of the Night anime release date is in July 2022, the Summer 2022 anime season.
The new anime is a classic tale with a fun twist. Boy meets girl. The girl is a vampire. Boy wants to become a vampire, and the girl says yes, but there’s a catch.
To become a vampire, he must fall in love with her, and he’s 14. But can he genuinely fall in love and become a vampire? Or will he be her meal?
This is one vampire anime story that shouldn’t be missed.
What do we know about Call of the Night?
Call of the Night is about 14-year-old Ko Yamori and his late-night walks due to insomnia. He meets a mysterious girl who introduces herself as Nazuna Nanakusa and asks Ko if he’s having problems sleeping.
Nanzuna hangs out with Ko when he says yes until he admits that he’s ready to sleep. But Ko isn’t ready to go home, so Nazuna invites him to sleep at her place.
This turns out to be an abandoned building with a double futon already prepared for them to use. Ko tries to leave, but Nazuna calms him down, and Ko decides to pretend to sleep.
Nazuna falls for it and bites Ko’s neck. When Ko sits up, Nazuna says a really big mosquito bit him. He doesn’t believe her, which leads to Ko asking if he’s now a vampire.
Nazuna laughs him off and explains how the vampire system works. First comes love, then comes a vampire to drink your blood, then you become a vampire.
But Ko hasn’t been in love, so how will he know when he is? What’s the difference between true love and admiration? How can a 14-year-old wander the city at night and not get picked up by the police?

When is Call of the Night coming?
Thanks to Liden Films, the anime is set to begin streaming in July 2022. Tetsuya Miyanishi is the Chief Director, with Tomoyuki Itamura assisting him as a director.
Michiko Yokote is the screenplay writer, and Haruka Sagawa handles the character designs. Bringing the characters to life are Gen Sato as Ko Yamori, Sora Amamiya as Nazuna Nanakusa, Yumiri Hanamori as Akari Asai, and Haruka Tomastu as Seri Kikyo.
The opening song is Yofukashi no Utea, performed by Creepy Nuts.
Kotoyama is the original creator, and his manga is going strong. With the 10th volume in Japan on February 18, 2022, English readers are getting the 8th volume on June 14, 2022.
Call of the Night was nominated for the 6th Next Manga Awards and ranked 8th on the Nationwide Bookstore Employees Recommended Comics of 2021. Kotoyama’s first manga is Dagashi Kashi with artist Ito Okashi.
