Back in February, Netflix revealed the teaser trailer of the new Bastard!! anime due to launch in 2022. This dark fantasy series, renowned for its titular horndog wizard, Dark Schneider, will be a split-cour series.
Now, you may be asking: what’s a “cour”? Well, a “cour” is a three-month block of TV broadcasting based on the physical seasons, usually composed of 10 to 13 episodes.
But the upcoming Bastard!! anime will consist of 13 episodes, according to an announcement from the official Twitter account.

The above date confirms the rumors we reported on and predictions we made back in February.
What is the plot of the upcoming Bastard!! anime?
Little has been revealed about the story at the moment. A short excerpt from the official website states the following:
“The work is classic entertainment at its finest: a grand and unique story, compelling fantasy world, intense battles full of sword & sorcery, and cute heroines that were probably a bit too risqué for a young boys’ comic back then. All this paired with the manga’s elaborate artwork make Bastard!! the pioneer and pinnacle of dark fantasy manga, influencing countless works that followed.”
Given the current character roster, which includes the likes of Abigail, Di-amon, and Kall-Su, the first cour will likely revolve around the earlier story arcs of the Bastard!! manga.
