The number of episodes for Shingeki no Kyojin Season 3 has officially been confirmed to be more than a single-cour season. Fans were hoping that Wit Studios would make the third season of the Attack On Titan anime longer after Season 2 was only a single cour. Now, it has been confirmed that Attack On Titan Season 3 will have two cours, but how many episodes will there be in total?
Back in April 2018, Yonkou Productions, who is well-known for having reliable sources, leaked out that “Attack On Titan Season 3 will run for 24 episodes.” In July 2018, the official website for the Shingeki no Kyojin anime series confirmed the number of episodes for each Blu-Ray and DVD volume for Attack On Titan Season 3.
The odd part is that each volume is listed as having three episodes yet only seven Blu-Ray volumes are listed. Does that mean Attack On Titan Season 3 will have 21 episodes? Not necessarily, since volumes 5 through 7 could simply have four episodes each, which brings the total to 24 episodes.
Unfortunately, the website does not give any hints about the release date for the second cour of Shingeki no Kyojin Season 3. It’s possible the anime will resume in October 2018 with Episode 13, but it’s also possible the third season is a split-cour anime season.
A split cour anime is when a single season takes a broadcasting break for a short time, usually three months, only to resume later. A recent example would be the second half of Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma Season 3. If part 2 of Attack On Titan Season 3 is handled similarly, then it could release in January 2019, the winter anime season.
