Yajirobe is one of the most underrated characters in the Dragon Ball franchise. Unfortunately, he’s often seen as cowardly, unhelpful, and Korin’s errand boy.
But many forget that Yajirobe is a normal human. He doesn’t use Ki, but he is a skilled swordsman and saved Goku several times!
Yajirobe’s role in the Saiyan Saga
Even though Yagirobe went to Kami’s Lookout, we don’t see him taking the training seriously. He spars with Krillin and bites him on the butt once!
But he also makes a wise decision at the start of the battle. He stayed out of it, warned people about the Saiyans, made money selling the story to the press and the police, and had a fancy meal at a restaurant.
The only thing he could have done better was to tell people the wrong way to go. A lot of reporters died due to Nappa attacking them.
But Yajirobe warned them that the world’s fate was at stake. So he did investigate once Goku changed the battle location for his fight with Vegeta.
Yajirobe scored two hits on Vegeta. The first was when he cut off Vegeta’s tail, and the second was a surprise attack when Vegeta was about to kill Gohan.
And Krillin would have used Yajirobe’s katana to kill Vegeta if Goku hadn’t stopped him.
Yajirobe deserves more respect!
Like many of the Z Fighters, we met Yajirobe in Dragon Ball. And he was one of the strongest humans at that time.
Yajirobe killed Cymbal, one of Demon King Piccolo’s children, in one stroke. And then he cooked and ate him!
He saved Goku by carrying him on his back up Korin’s Tower. And he caught Goku out of nowhere before he fell to his death.
Yajirobe is one of the easiest characters to sympathize with. He enjoys eating, puffs himself up, and has a realistic approach to life.
Anyone would be scared of fighting a Great Ape. And Yajirobe knows he isn’t the strongest fighter, especially compared to the other Z Fighters.
But he still chose to help fight against Vegeta. He could have run away from the fight after cutting Vegeta’s tail off.
Vegeta hadn’t seen him yet, so he went first after Goku, Gohan, and Krillin. But he distracted Vegeta long enough for Gohan to transform into a Great Ape.
And would have been proud if Krillin had killed Vegeta with his katana.
