The official Dragon Ball website has released several sketches of the upcoming Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero manga prequel! We don’t have an official name for it yet, but chapter 1’s release date for physical release in Japan has been confirmed.
It looks like it’s off to a good start. We can see where the Super manga left off, and Frieza will be one of the main villains.
But who will Trunks and Goten fight?
What’s going to happen?
In a shocking twist, Vegeta appears to be the only one taking the threat of Frieza seriously. Goku either doesn’t care that he was beaten with one punch or is excited about Frieza’s new strength.
It’s doubtful we’ll see who the strongest in the universe is, but the prequel starts and ends with nostalgia. According to the official Dragon Ball website, Trunks wants to face a colossal evil like his favorite superhero, Saiyaman.
He and Goten call themselves Saiyaman X and protect the city! The sketches focus on an attempted robbery which the new Sayamen quickly takes care of.
The boys hang out on top of a roof until Chi-Chi calls Goten on his cell phone. She doesn’t know that Goten is a superhero, and he heads home on the Flying Nimbus in his regular clothes.
As much as I love seeing the cloud, it makes no sense for Goten to rely on it. He can fly. Trunks can fly.
And will the young Saiyans find a worthy foe? Japanese fans will see the first chapter in the V Jump February Extra Large 2023 Issue on December 21, 2022.

We already know that Goku and Vegeta are going to fight Frieza. And we already know how the Super Hero movie ends.
But this is the first time we’ve had Trunks and Goten in their teen forms since GT. Do they need to be watched from time to time?
Yes. But they’re not little kids anymore, and we know they can handle most things. So I still think there’s a chance Frieza will come back to Earth for the umpteenth time.
That doesn’t mean he will do it during the prequel story. But it’d be interesting to see, especially with what happened during the Ressurection F and Super Broly movies.
The boys have mostly been comedic relief and treated like backup. This would be the perfect time to show what this generation can do.
But we still have a few days to see where everything ends up. VIZ Media will add the new chapter to its website on December 20, 2022.
