It’s always sad to reach the final day of a convention. There are fewer hours for the con to stay open and fewer panels to see.
But I didn’t have time to check any of them out because I was busy handling getting a late checkout and needed new keys for my room. I also didn’t wake up until almost 11, so I needed the new keys fast!
The hunt is on!
I’ve recently gotten into collecting figures, and anime conventions are one of the best places to find some. Unfortunately, the only series I wanted to buy some figures of is from Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic, its second season Kingdom of Magic, and its spin-off/prequel series, Magi: Adventure of Sinbad.
I know figures exist because I’ve seen them online, but none of the vendors had any. However, everyone knew what I was talking about, and someone said they saw some Magi merch about nine conventions ago.
But my search wasn’t in vain! I discovered an Anime Grab Bag for $20 that promised to have one Magi item.
It’s a folder in that I shall keep my ColossalCon North 2022 autographs! I also got a CD from a Japanese Band, a small figure of a series I’ve never heard of, and some pins.
Not a bad haul for a blind bag. But that’s not all! Luck smiled upon me as one vendor had a single keychain of Sinbad in his teens from his prequel show!
I grabbed some Yuri on Ice merch and, sadly, began taking items out of the hotel room and into the family van. But my adventure wasn’t over yet!
I didn’t want to leave!
My friends had to head out into the real world, but I ran into my younger brother, and we decided to hang out until the convention ended. One of the nice things about the last day of a convention is that vendors are more willing to make a deal.
Especially when it comes to the more expensive items, I watched my brother spend about $100 on two figures and was practically given a third for free! I found this super cute Baby Kari and Koromon figure set from the Digimon Movie and a soul gem that looks like it’s from the Madoka Magica Rebellion movie for around $130 total.
My childhood and one of my current obsessions were in one place; I had to buy them. Unfortunately, the vendor room closed at 3, so we amused ourselves by taking pictures.
Some of my brother’s friends wanted to go to Pizza Ranch, and all of us went. We talked about our favorite parts of the convention, and next year might be overrun with Waluigi!
I can’t thank the ColossalCon Press enough for inviting me to the convention. There were so many things I wanted to see and not enough hours in the day.
I can’t wait to see what ColossalCon comes up with next year!
