About the Kin no Kuni Mizu no Kuni manga series
The Kin no Kuni Mizu no Kuni anime film is based on the eponymous manga series by Nao Iwamoto. The manga was serialized in Shogakukan’s Flowers magazine from October 2014 to April 2016. The individual chapters have been collected into a single tankōbon volume, which was published on July 8, 2016.
Kin no Kuni Mizu no Kuni is a josei title and tells a story of two warring neighboring countries, which keep arguing over trivialities. Eventually, they start a war over a nonsensical reason, which prompts the gods to intervene.
Their “intervention” decrees that the most beautiful girl of one country and the smartest boy of the other country are to be wed.
How that match will turn out and whether the two countries will learn to leave in peace remains to be seen… once the anime film premieres. Once again, Kin no Kuni Mizu no Kuni will debut on January 27, 2023.
