The Peter Grill and the Philosopher’s Time Season 3 anime TV series will have Peter waking up from one hell of a hangover to discover that he’s married to a dragon girl! Can the Strongest Man on Earth make things right with his true love Luvellia? And when will Peter Grill to Kenja no Jikan Season 3 come out?
The official title for the second season was Peter Grill and the Philosopher’s Time: Super Extra (Peter Grill to Kenja no Jikan Super Extra). As such, it’s predicted that Peter Grill Season 3 will have a similar title denoting that it’s a sequel.
The studio(s) and main staff making Peter Grill Season 3 haven’t been announced yet.
The second season was produced as a collaboration between returning Studio Wolfbane and Studio Seven. The Peter Grill anime is apparently the very first full production of Studio Wolfbane, although they’re credited with animation assistance on the 2018 series of anime shorts called Crossing Time.
Considering the thematic focus of the Peter Grill anime, it shouldn’t be surprising that director Tatsumi (who is also the chief animation director for Peter Grill Season 2) has a background in explicitly raunchy animation. Season 1 character designer Rui Ishike has also directed similar works, but he was replaced by Koh Kawarajima for the second season and his professional background includes writing and drawing a Code Geass manga spin-off.
Scriptwriter Nora Mouri also has experience working on regular anime, including the 2016 Kiitaro’s Yokai Picture Diary and the 2020 Adults Dunno How to Love! anime.
The Peter Grill and the Philosopher’s Time Season 3 OP (opening) and ED (ending) theme song music hasn’t been announced yet.
For the first season, the Peter Grill and the Philosopher’s Time opening (OP) theme song music was “Piercing Melancholy,” as performed by Yui Ninomiya, the Japanese voice actress for Luvelia Sanctos. The ending (ED) was “A Shoulder To Lean On” by hip-hop group Hilcrhyme.
The Peter Grill and the Philosopher’s Time Season 2 OP (opening) theme song music “A Promise in Twilight (Kurenazumu Yakusoku)” was performed by isekaijoucho. Hilcrhyme returned to perform the Peter Grill S2 ED “Heart In Love (Koigokoro)”.
The first season released in Summer 2020. The second season’s finale, Peter Grill and the Philosopher’s Time Season 2 Episode 12, was released on December 26, 2022.
This article provides everything that is known about Peter Grill and the Philosopher’s Time Season 3 (Peter Grill to Kenja no Jikan Season 3 / Peter Grill Season 3) and all related news. As such, this article will be updated over time with news, rumors, and analysis. Meanwhile, let’s delve down into what is known for certain.
Where to watch Peter Grill uncensored streaming
The first season of the anime series was streaming on Crunchyroll, VRV, and HIDIVE. The second season, Super Extra, was streaming exclusively on HIDIVE.
The Peter Grill English dub anime was streaming on HIDIVE beginning on August 14, 2020.
Want to watch the Peter Grill and the Philosopher’s Time English dub streaming in the future? Unfortunately, the anime series will likely continue to be a HIDIVE exclusive since Sentai Filmworks is the streaming licensor. Crunchyroll lost the streaming licensing rights after Sony purchased both Crunchyroll and Funimation.
Sentai Filmworks has also announced that it licensed the home video release for North America and Europe except for Asia, France, Germany, Monaco, Andorra, Austria, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Italy, and Belgium.
Anime fans watching the Crunchyroll version of the first season were probably almost feeling blinded by the glaring lights used to censor various scenes. In response, HIDIVE announced that they are streaming the Peter Grill and the Philosopher’s Time “Great Philosopher” version.
This TV version is still technically censored, but the glaring lights are used sparingly rather than covering practically the entire screen. It’s still also sometimes possible to see explicit body parts through the partial glare.
For those wanting to watch Peter Grill and the Philosopher’s Time uncensored, they will need to turn to the “Super Philsopher” version, which is entirely uncensored.
So far, only the Japanese TV network AT-X has announced that they will be broadcasting the Peter Grill and the Philosopher’s Time Super Philosopher version. But HIDIVE is teasing fans by saying, “We’ve been working that angle long and hard.”
Peter Grill Season 3 release date predictions: Renewal likely if uncensored Blu-Ray sells well
As of the last update, Studio Wolfbane, Studio Seven, or any company related to the production of the anime has not officially confirmed the Peter Grill Season 3 release date. Nor has the production of a Peter Grill and the Philosopher’s Time Season 3 sequel been announced.
Once the news is officially confirmed this article will be updated with the relevant information.
In the meantime, it’s possible to speculate about when, or if, the Peter Grill to Kenja no Jikan Season 3 release date will occur in the future.
The first thing to jump out was that the Peter Grill reviews for the 2nd season were notably much better in comparison to the first season. Some of the better fan scores can probably be attributed to the tone of the story shifting from a raunchy fantasy to a comedic battle harem (a similar transition happened in High School DxD). Thus the second season became a little bit more action-packed and a little less focused on only comedic harem antics, although that’s obviously still the main point.
We could talk about reviews and animation quality (or lack thereof) but at the end of the day, every discerning reader knows what will make Peter Grill Season 3 a reality. It’s all about laughing while enjoying watching the sugoi oppai!
This anime isn’t intended to be compared to high-minded concepts such as Overlord, Mushoku Tensei, The Saga of Tanya the Evil, Re:ZERO, Ascendance of a Bookworm, I’m Standing on a Million Lives, Parallel World Pharmacy, The Eminence in Shadow, or even Reincarnated as a Sword. The so-called story for “Goblin Layer” Peter Grill is just glossy window dressing for the fact that audiences want to watch an unwanted harem comprised of different races/species chase around a comically unfaithful hero.
The target audience wants Harem in the Labyrinth of Another World Season 2. They want to watch Peter Grill uncensored with good animations and let their libidos take over, not experience moments of insightful self-reflection based on a thought-provoking fantasy story. As such, the uncensored anime is the 2nd elephant in the room (the first is Peter’s peter, of course).
Sure, the streaming performance of the censored version on HIDIVE is still a major revenue factor, but the 2nd season failed to make HIDIVE’s Most Popular anime list although it did get featured weekly on the HIDIVE Trending Now list. Thus, getting Peter Grill Season 3 renewed will depend on Super Extra fans willingly shelling out money for the uncensored Peter Grill Blu-Ray/DVD box sets.
Based on the history of this anime there’s a good chance of Peter Grill Season 3 being greenlit for production. And there’s definitely a burgeoning market for this anime category. As a comparison, it’s also reported that the anime production committee for the Kaifuku Jutsushi no Yarinaoshi is “considering” making Redo of Healer Season 2.
Therefore, it’s predicted that the Peter Grill anime production committee will have the anime series renewed for a third season. But it’s also predicted that the wait time for the Peter Grill and the Philosopher’s Time Season 3 release date will be several years.
Peter Grill manga compared to the anime’s second season
The anime is based on the Peter Grill to Kenja no Jikan manga series by creator Daisuke Hiyama. Serialized monthly in Futabasha’s Manga Action since July 2017, the Peter Grill and the Philosopher’s Time manga was up to Volume 11 as of September 12, 2022.
Historically, the manga series has released two volumes per year. Volume 6, which was out when the anime premiered in 2020, includes up through Chapter 30. When the second season premiered in Fall 2022, Volume 11 includes up through Chapter 50.
North American publisher Seven Seas Entertainment is publishing the official English translation of the Peter Grill manga. The English Volume 9 came out on November 29, 2022, and Volume 10 is scheduled for July 18, 2023.
The anime has been adapting the manga in a fairly straightforward fashion, but it’s skimmed over dialogue and rearranged some plot points. The dialogue especially is greatly condensed based on the time constraints provided by the episodic TV format.
One interesting anime-only change in Episode 5 was Lucy asking Luvelia Sanctos if she was pregnant. You have to wonder if Luvelia really does know more about physical loving while still mistakenly believing babies come from storks.
One negative to the adaptation is how the anime condensed some of the fantasy world-building elements in order to focus on the raunchy scenes. Yes, surprisingly, even the censored TV version of the anime has more mature content than the manga, which generally uses raunchiness for comedic effect rather than continually emphasizing lewdness for its own sake.
While the anime does have comedy, the episodes all have extended raunchy scenes involving the Ogre sisters Mimi and Lisa Alpacas, the elf Vegan Eldoriel, the Orc Piglette Pancetta, the goblin “sister” Gobuko Nggiell, and dwarf girl Mithlim Netherland.
The first season ended by revealing Lucy and even teased the next major story arc by showing the female Hobgoblins, the Hellish Three Stars. That meant the second season picked up the story again in manga Volume 4: Chapter 16.
The second season maintained the slow adaptation pacing by adapting 1.5 chapters per episode. Of course, this pacing still felt fast due to the 13-minute Peter Grill episodes being relatively short compared to the average 23-minute episode that’s standard in the industry.
Despite having less time to work with, the 2nd season managed to cover three story arcs. The Goblin Invasion arc developed Peter’s backstory while introducing Gobuko into the harem.
The aftermath of this story arc gave just the right amount of screen time to the craziness of Peter’s sister Lucy Grill. She was easily the highlight of the second season as the anti-brocon with all the murder-y vibes!
The Dwarven Village story arc concluded with the climactic battle against the Semimole. Mithlim becomes a hero to her people by forging the orichalcum sword into an axe, but she becomes yet another complication in Peter’s love life since Mithlim’s father makes it clear that he expects Peter to eventually marry her. And if Peter betrays Mithlim then the wrath of the Dwarven village… and Lady Luvelia’s father… and Lucy’s sword will all be gunning for Peter’s peter!
The Elven Village story arc began with Volume 6: Chapter 27. This final story arc was teased by the Season 2 OP video since it showed Vegan’s sister Frutalia Eldriel. The key visuals for the 2nd season also featured Frutalia.
Peter contends with the “lucky pervert” fortune bracelet making it impossible to go anywhere near a woman without a lecherous disaster breaking out. He’s forced to come crying for help from Vegan but then her sister Frutalia takes advantage and kidnaps our hero to make him a breeding stud for the Super Elf Project. Despite 3,000-fold sensitivity magic making it difficult to resist, Peter manages to stay faithful just in time for Vegan to come to the rescue (sort of).
All in all, it’s predicted that the second season’s finale, Peter Grill Season 2 Episode 12, will find a stopping point corresponding to manga Volume 7: Chapter 32.
It’s the best stopping point since it provides Vegan’s backstory along with a good climactic magical battle. But the real conflict was getting the sisters to reconcile… even if it was in a manner that Peter doesn’t desire!
Unfortunately for Peter, the wise words left by the elven sisters’ grandfather won’t save the Eldriel family from financial ruin so now he’s being double-teamed by the elf sisters for his seed! Needless to say, a new member has joined Peter Grill’s harem.
The good news is that there should be enough source material for making Peter Grill and the Philosopher’s Time Season 3 quickly assuming the adaptation pacing stays the same. Better yet, English-only manga readers who want to read ahead of the anime can jump straight to Volume 8: Chapter 33.
Peter Grill to Kenja no Jikan Season 3 anime TV spoilers (plot summary/synopsis)
The last time we watched Peter Grill and the girls, the anime had become a little bit more action-packed and a little less focused on comedic harem antics. But after all of his recent amorous misadventures, Peter just hoped to enjoy a wholesome vacation with his true love, Luvellia, who just won a pair of travel tickets for a special pilgrimage to the holy land of Eggtart.
Luvellia plans on using the trip to pray to receive a baby from the gods’ messenger… the stork. Even if Luvellia finally discovers where babies actually come from, the only problem is that Peter’s overworked elephant can no longer lift its trunk anymore after he spent so much time under the 3,000x sensitivity curse.
Yep, Peter Grill has ED!
The elf girls want to use even more magic to resolve the malady (allegedly) caused by their magic, but Piglette wisely points out that adding more magic could just worsen the root issue. Piglette believes Peter is simply stressed out so they end up visiting the world’s leading spa resort where the girls don swimsuits and attempt various types of oily massages. While that could be relaxing in theory, things quickly spiral out of control when Mithlim activates Dynamite Lady Mark II armor and attempts to stimulate his “lymph nodes”… from the inside.
Since magic and stress relief are no help they consider diet and rare medicinals. The harem embarks on an epic journey to track down rare creatures, most of which are NSFW, and thus can’t be shown in this article. Their quest ends in tracking down a unicorn, but the only way to attract it is with virgins. Needless to say, the divine beast is enraged when the girls try to trick him by dressing up as fake virgins and turns its wrath on Peter (after giving an explanation that unicorns avoid untrustworthy non-virgins in order to prevent brood parasitism, which is when a species leaves its offspring in the care of other animals).
This epic battle that lasted for days will be passed down into legend, but the important point is that gathering the ingredients worked to cure his ED. Peter had a moment of indecision before eating since he realized he could escape the unwanted harem if they gradually lost interest in him if he couldn’t get it up. But you can probably guess by now how that moment ended…
Of course, the girls’ antics only add to Peter’s stress so he’s looking forward to escaping the harem for some alone time with Luvellia. The problem is that Luvellia’s father didn’t want her going alone with him so she ends up practically kidnapping Peter to go elope with him to the Holy City.
Unfortunately, after just one night in the Holy City, Peter wakes up with the mother of all hangovers, married to a dragon girl named Menma whom he’s never even met before, and wanted by the law to boot! Just what the heck happened last night?
As if Peter’s life can’t get any more complicated his past comes back to haunt him. Tigra Pondelion is Peter’s master who taught him martial arts. Despite being the Strongest School’s Instructor, she’s actually very weak so she needs Peter’s help, but it turns out the tiger woman is also a cougar!
The Strongest Man on Earth will surely get to the bottom of things, no matter how many naked women stand in his way!
Unfortunately, anime fans will have to wait until the Peter Grill and the Philosopher’s Time Season 3 release date to watch what happens next. Stay tuned!
