On November 1, 2022, @comicearthstar announced on Twitter that My Daughter Left the Nest and Returned an S-Rank Adventurer is getting an anime adaptation. There’s no word on which studio and main staff will work on it, but we have a teaser trailer!
The light novels are complete in Japan, but J-Novel Club has translated six volumes! Japanese readers will enjoy the sixth manga volume on November 11, 2022.
Sadly, there’s no word on when the manga adaptation will be available outside Japan. But hopefully, we’ll hear more about it once the anime gets underway.

My Daughter Left the Nest and Returned an S-Rank Adventurer started as a web novel on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website and is now a light novel series and a manga adaptation. The plot follows Belgrieve and Angeline, an ex-adventurer who finds a baby girl abandoned in the mountains.
Belgrieve decides to raise her, despite never having a child or getting married, and we flash forward to when Angeline is 12 and practicing using a sword. The light novel does suffer from some info dropping, but it never outstays its welcome.
It’s Angeline’s last day in the village, and Belgrieve is proud of her. Although he’s worried he spoiled her, she does have the skills to become an adventurer.
Readers will discover this fact quickly, as another time skip happens, and Angeline is now 17. She’s an S-Rank and is more than ready to take a vacation and return home to see her father.
Unfortunately, there’s a rise in Calamity-Level Fiends, and one has the misfortune to interfere with her vacation inadvertently. Will Angeline make it home and get some rest?
What is causing so many powerful Fiends to appear? And why was Angeline abandoned as a baby?
The curse of long titles!
Typically, series with long titles turn out to be isekai or a second life story. Where the main character is either forced or decides to do something else with their life.
Belgrieve fits the second category, but he returned to his home village and is now one of its most highly thought-of members. Five years is a long time to be away from home, and the light novels show us some of these changes.
People grew older, businesses expanded and changed hands, and Belgrieve is still helping his neighbors even when he doesn’t need to. There’s not a lot of action in the early chapters, but the humor is good, and the art is fantastic.
I hope the anime captures the heart of this series without changing anything. The story is good and wholesome, and I can’t wait to see Angeline’s black aura.
