The number of manga series going dormant is increasing by the minute!
Reportedly, a To Your Eternity hiatus has the manga joining the list.
On October 15, 2022, Manga Mogura RE, an avid manga reader with a history of relevant ‘leaks’, revealed that the To Your Eternity manga will go on hiatus after next week’s chapter and will reportedly resume with a new arc in January 2023.
Presumably, mangaka Yoshitoki Ooima’s health issues are to blame, and she wouldn’t be the first to suffer this gloomy fate!
On the contrary! Yoshihiro Togashi may be the most representative example of the predicament, but the breakneck schedules of the manga industry are infamous for ruining many a manga artist’s health.
It is to be hoped that nothing serious is out and about.
Don’t forget that this is a rumor, not an officially confirmed fact, so take this piece of info with a grain of salt until further notice.
About the To Your Eternity manga series
The To Your Eternity (不滅のあなたへ, Fumetsu no Anata e) manga has been serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine since November 2016 under the Kodansha Comics label. The individual chapters have been compiled into eighteen tankōbon volumes as of September 16, 2022.
Kodansha USA has licensed the series for an English release. The English translation is up to Volume 17.
The plot focuses on Fushi, who is described by Kodansha as a “lonely boy,” even though he’s neither a boy nor ‘lonely’ (seeing as he doesn’t have any feelings at the beginning of the story but is rather an empty shell that absorbs feelings as the story progresses).
Fushi wanders the Arctic regions of North America, meeting various characters and developing his personality with their help. Upon meeting a wolf, the two form a fellowship, but there’s more to each companion than meets the eye!
To Your Eternity is labeled shounen but, in truth, it is so much more than your average coming-of-age story.
The manga has inspired an anime adaptation, which is about to debut To Your Eternity Season 2 next week.
The To Your Eternity anime Season 2 release date is in October 2022
The To Your Eternity Season 2 release date is on October 23, the Fall 2022 anime season.
On October 6, the Fumetsu no Anata e S2 got trailer PV 3, which previews new supporting characters and confirms that the OP theme song is “PINK BLOOD” by Utada Hikaru. The same OP theme song was used for S1.
The ED theme song hasn’t been revealed yet. The Season 1 ending theme song was “Mediator” by Masashi Hamauzu.
In July 2022, it was announced that Studio Drive will replace Brain’s Base for To Your Eternity S2 and that Kiyoko Sayama will take over from Masahiko Murata as the series director. The rest of the To Your Eternity main staff members are reprising their roles, as follows:
- Kouji Yabuno — character designer
- Shinzou Fujita — series composer
- Ryou Kawasaki — music composer
The voice actors include:
- Reiji Kawashima — Fushi
- Kenjirou Tsuda — The Beholder
- Tomori Kusunoki (Makima in Chainsaw Man) — Hisame
- Mitsuki Saiga — Kahaku
- Takehito Koyasu (Dio Brando in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure) — Bonchien
The Fumetsu no Anata e premiere date and a brand-new key visual were revealed on September 6 alongside three additional cast members.
Crunchyroll unveiled the To Your Eternity Season 2 trailer PV 2 during the Anime Expo 2022 and announced that the series would run for 20 episodes.
Fumetsu no Anata e will debut on Japan’s NHK Educational TV on October 23 at 7 PM JST. Crunchyroll and Ani-One have licensed the series for an international release.
At least we’ll enjoy the TV anime while waiting for the manga to resume… provided the announcement gets an official confirmation.
