During Nier: Automata’s live stream, Square Enix announced that the NieR: Automata anime release date is in January 2023, the Winter 2023 anime season!
There’s no word on how long the anime will be, but according to an official statement, the anime will closely follow the game.
But the game has 26 endings. Some of which you can’t unlock without getting other endings, and some involve a character’s death.
What do we know about NieR: Automata Ver1.1a?
The anime is produced by A-1 Pictures and will air in January 2023. Ryouji Masuyama is directing and in charge of writing with Yoko Taro.
MONACA is handling the music, and Aniplex holds the licensing rights. Jun Nakai is designing the characters and is serving as chief animation director.
Only four roles are known. Yui Ishikawa is 2B, Natsuki Hanae is 9S, Hiroki Yasumoto is Pod 042, and Kaoru Akiyama is Pod 153.
Although we don’t know where the anime will air outside of Japan, it is nice to see the cast from the NieR: Automata game returning to bring the characters to life.
Can’t wait for more NeiR: Automata? Square Enix is publishing a manga adaptation of the YoRHa stage play in December 2022. The manga is YoRHa Pearl Harbor Descent Record and is available on Manga UP!
What is NieR: Automata?
NieR: Automata is an action-role-playing game set in the future, where a machine army is invading the Earth from another world. Humans have fled to the moon and sent down androids to reclaim the planet.
Players play as 2B and 9S during different playthroughs of the initial invasion. And eventually, another character becomes available.
Only five endings out of 26 are the main endings, depending on which character you play, your choices, and other requirements. 20 endings involve minor characters, while Ending Y is a hidden ending involving a challenging boss fight.
NieR: Automata also changes its genre occasionally, with the ending credits turning into a shoot-em-up, and there are text-based adventures! With so much to offer, and the anime title containing Ver1.1a, we can easily have several seasons worth of content.
You can play NieR: Automata on PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows, and Xbox One, and it will be coming to the Nintendo Switch on October 6, 2022. Ending E is considered the true ending, but you’ll still have to play through a couple of endings to unlock it.
