The Doraemon: Nobita’s Sky Utopia premiere date is on March 3, 2023. The news was unveiled via the anime movie’s official Twitter account on September 15, 2022.
To commemorate the news, an illustration contest titled “Your Ideal Cat Robot” was announced (open to the Japanese exclusively). The winning illustration (to be announced in March 2023) will be featured in the Doraemon: Nobita’s Sky Utopia movie pamphlets.
Doraemon: Nobita to Sora no Utopia will follow the titular character and his friends’ adventures in the sky city Utopia where, true to its name, everyone can live happily ever after.
The first trailer PV for the upcoming Doraemon: Nobita to Sora no Utopia anime film — featuring a time zeppelin — was revealed earlier in July.
Doraemon: Nobita’s Sky Utopia is the 42nd Doraemon anime movie.
The robot cat is indeed the most recognizable Japanese pop culture icon. The Doraemon manga series by the legendary duo Fujiko F. Fujio is one of the highest-grossing media franchises and also one of the best-selling manga series of all time.
Doraemon: Nobita’s Sky Utopia — What we know so far
The staff members for Doraemon: Nobita’s Sky Utopia (Doraemon: Nobita to Sora no Utopia) include Takumi Dōyama (director) and Kosawa Ryōta (screenplay). We’ll have to wait a bit longer for additional staff members, so stay tuned!
As for the seiyuu, the Doraemon the Movie: Nobita’s Little Star Wars 2021 cast are reprising their roles, as follows:

The Doraemon franchise is difficult to beat!
As mentioned above, the Doraemon (ドラえもん) franchise started as a manga series by Fujiko F. Fujio… rather a long time ago, too! The manga began serialization in CoroCoro Comic in 1969 and ended in 1996, amounting to stunning 1,345 chapters! The individual chapters have been compiled in 45 tankōbon volumes. Shogakukan is the publisher of the original Doraemon manga series.
Another manga series, Doraemon Plus, also published by Shogakukan, was serialized from 2005 to 2014.
The plot follows the titular Doraemon, a robotic cat from the 22nd century, who goes back in time to assist Nobita Nobi. Norita is a ten-year-old boy who is pure of heart but has his flaws; namely, he is lazy and utterly unlucky, but that’s about to change with Doraemon’s appearance.
The Doraemon manga series proved an immediate success. Since its 1969 debut, it has evolved into a full-blown franchise spanning three TV anime series (1973, 1979, and 2005), 41 animated films distributed by Toho, and a countless number of soundtracks, musicals, video games, and all kinds of merchandise imaginable.
Finally, Doraemon has inspired a number of spin-offs, the most popular of which are Doraemon Long Stories (1980–2004) by Fujiko F. Fujio (Vol. 1–17) and Fujiko F. Fujio Pro (Vol. 18–24), The Doraemons (1995–2003) by Michiaki Tanaka, and Dorabase (2000–2014) by Shintaro Mugiwara.
