On July 20, 2022, Knights of the Zodiac Live Action Film on Twitter revealed a poster, and the year Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac will premiere. At 5:30 pm at the San Diego Comic-con in room 6A, fans enjoyed the First Look: Knights of the Zodiac panel.
Though we only have the image above from the film, we know some of the cast, plot, and what fans should expect in the future. Live actions are on the rise, but time will tell if Knights of the Zodiac will break the mold or ride on our nostalgia.
What do we know about the movie?
Tomasz Baginski is the director, and Keil Murray, Josh Campbell, and Matt Stuecken are writing the screenplay. Mackenyu stars as Seiya, Madison Iseman as Sienna, Sean Bean as Alman Kiddo, and Diego Tinoco as A Mysterious Assassin.
Famke Janssen, Mark Dacascos, and Nick Stahl are also in the cast, but their roles are unknown. Toei Animation is collaborating with A Really Good Film Company based in Hong Kong to produce the film.
The filming is done in Croatia and Hungary, and the movie follows the plot of the original 1986 anime. Five young warriors are recruited to be the Knights of the Zodiac and protect the Greek Goddess Athena and the Earth from the Olympian Gods.
Each warrior has a cloth that turns into armor and is protected by a constellation. Seiya is the Pegasuss.
What might happen in the future?
There are seven Knights of the Zodiac anime, and the first series has 114 episodes. That’s plenty of content to make a good movie or even several movies.
With so many adaptations available, it’s clear that Knights of the Zodiac is a beloved franchise that can do well. The movie was first announced in 2017 at a press conference.
If you want to read the manga, Viz Media has it in their online library, and Netflix and Crunchyroll have the 1986 anime as well. If you like Rick Rorriden’s work, Knights of the Zodiac is a perfect franchise.
