Summer Time Rendering OP trailer for 2nd cour revealed

Bits and pieces of information about the Summer Time Rendering TV anime series have been consistently revealed in the last couple of days.

For starters, a trailer for the second anime cour has been released, featuring the new opening song “Natsuyume Noisy” by Asaka. The ending theme, titled “Shitsuren Songu Takusan Kiite Naite Bakari no Watashi wa Mou” (All I’ve Done is Listen to Sad Songs About Heartbreak and Cry, Enough”), is performed by Riria. Take a look:

In addition, a new character is set to appear in the upcoming second cour, namely Ryunosuke Minakata. Yūko Sanpei (Legend of Mana: The Teardrop Crystal’s Bud) will voice Minakata.

A brand new key visual for the new character has been made available via the Summer Time Rendering TV anime official website, so here’s a sneak peek:

Next on, it has been announced that two Blu-ray volumes of the Summer Time Rendering TV anime will be released, as follows:

  • The first volume will be available starting from August 31, 2022, and will include a 3-sided box
  • The second volume will be available starting from November 30, 2022

Further out, there’s a new key visual, which you can see immediately below:

Lastly, Summer Time Rendering will get a video game adaptation by MAGES. No additional information has been revealed yet, so stay tuned for updates.  

The Summer Time Rendering anime second cour: what we know so far

The new cour of the Summer Time Rendering TV anime series will begin at a later, undisclosed date. The anime series is Disney+ exclusive, which is to say it’s streaming only on the said platform for the majority of regions, for the time being at least.

The staff is, as follows:

  • Ayumu Watanabe — director
  • Satoshi Nakano — assistant director
  • Hiroshi Seko — series composer and scriptwriter
  • Miki Matsumoto — character designer
  • Ryuichi Takada and Keigo Hoashi (Frame Arms Girl) — music composers

OLM (Love All Play) is producing the series. Additional staff include Anna Akasaka and Yuuki Hatakeyama as art directors, Yuki Akimoto as color designer, and Toshiya Kimura as photography director.

The Summer Time Rendering manga

The Summer Time Rendering anime series is based on the eponymous manga by Yasuki Tanaka, which was serialized from 2017 to 2021 on Shueisha’s digital magazine Shōnen Jump+. All chapters have been collected in 13 tankōbon volumes.

The plot follows Shinpei Ajiro, who was raised by the Kofune sisters Ushio and Mio following the death of his parents. Now a grown-up, Shinpei lives in Tokyo. One day, he hears of Ushio’s passing and thereupon returns to the island town of his childhood. There, he discovers suspicious circumstances of Ushio’s death and sets out to unravel the secrets of her suspected murder with the help of her sister Mio.

Udon Entertainment has licensed the manga series and is releasing them as six omnibus editions (both hardcover and softcover editions are available). Summer Time Rendering Volumes 1, 2, and 3 received the hardcover-edition release in May 2022. Volumes 4, 5, and 6 will be released in July 2022. Softcover editions are being released monthly, starting from May 2022.
