A new trailer for Shine On! Bakumatsu Boys anime has revealed its OP and ED theme songs and some new cast members. The trailer previews some hilarious and action-packed footage from the anime and features the OP and ED theme songs.
Takanori Nishikawa performs the opening theme song, Ichiban Hikari! -Bucchigire-. Ji zo sonzai name-less is making his anime debut with the ending theme song, Danzai Democracy.
The new cast members announced for the anime include:
- Taku Yashiro, best known for playing Vulcan in Fire Force, as Rashomaru
- Yusuke Shirai, best known for playing Sasaki in Sasaki and Miyano, as Matsudaira Katamori
- Koji Ishii, best known for playing Kagura in Gintama, as Akizuki Teijiro

Tetsuo Hirakawa, best known for directing Zero kara Hajimeru Mahou no Sho, is directing the anime at Geno Studio. He is also in charge of the scripts. Hiroyuki Takei, the original creator of Shaman King, is designing the characters which Masafumi Yokota is adapting for animation.

Shine On! Bakumatsu Boys, aka Bucchigire! is an original anime television series animated by Geno Studio and produced by Twin Engine.
The anime was first announced by Twin Engine in March this year, and the first trailer PV was later released in April. The anime is scheduled to premiere on July 8, 2022. It will air on TOKYO MX and BS11 on July 8, SBS on July 12, AT-X on July 14, and NCC on July 27.
Amazon Prime Video and Hikari TV will stream the anime in Japan simultaneously with its television broadcast. Crunchyroll has announced that it will be simulcasting the series.
The story of Shine On! Bakumatsu Boys is set in an era when samurai ruled Japan. Seven criminals are chosen as substitutes for the Shinsengumi police force, which was annihilated by the Masked Demons, except for a single survivor.
