Tiger & Bunny has received a third greenlight for a live-action. Bandai Namco Pictures is partnering with SK Global, but they intend to make it a TV series instead of a movie film.
Tiger & Bunny began as an anime series in 2011 and has two anime films, four manga series, and a second season that premiered on Netflix in 2022. In addition, a stage play adaptation and two video games have been made.
Tiger & Bunny characters have appeared in a mobile game, Tales Of The Rays. Executive producers in the Tiger & Bunny live-action series are M. Raven Metzner, Ozaki Masayuki, and Tetsu Fujimura.
Fujimura has stated that development is underway, and the show will be pitched to broadcasters and streamers, including Netflix.
What’s Tiger & Bunny?
Tiger & Bunny takes place in a New York City reimagined Stern Bild City. 45 years before the anime started, people with superpowers appeared, and some became heroes.
The most famous heroes work for sponsor companies, and their uniforms carry the logos of real and fictional companies. A popular tv show called Hero TV broadcasts the heroes in action and makes a game out of it.
Heroes earn points by catching criminals and saving people. The hero with the most points at the end of the season is crowned King of Heroes.
Season one focuses on Kotetsu T. Kaburagi, or Wild Tiger, and his growing partnership with Barnaby Brooks Jr. Who happens to have the same power as Kotetsu.
A homicidal villain calling himself Lunatic pops up and makes people question heroes’ place in society. My Hero Academia fans will feel right at home with this one.
What is SK Global?
SK Global Entertainment works on premium content with local and worldwide understanding. They have operations in Los Angeles, New York, Hong Kong, Seoul, and Beijing.
Each location produces high-quality and commercial content in film, tv, virtual reality, and digital media with the help of distribution partners. Fast Companys’ named SK Global one of the most innovative companies in 2020.
SK Global has handled Impetigore, Greta; The Sky Is Pink, Crazy Rich Asians, The Wailing, etc. They say the third time is a charm, and with this new partner, it sounds like we’ll be getting a live-action Tiger & Bunny.
Fans are asking for a season three of anime, so there’s a lot of hype for this project.
