Ayakashi Triangle: What is it about?
Ayakashi Triangle (あやかしトライアングル) follows exorcist ninja Matsuri Kazamaki who is trying to defend his childhood friend Suzu Kanade. Kanade is an ayakashi (evil spirit) medium. However, Kazamaki gets cursed by Shirogane (the ayakashi king) and gets turned into a girl thereby.
Not knowing how to reverse the curse, Kazamaki has to live as a girl all the while dealing with complex issues like friendly and unfriendly ayakashi and romantic feelings for Suzu that slowly start developing.
Viz Media and Shueisha are publishing the manga in English digitally. Seven Seas Entertainment announced the license acquisition of the manga series Ayakashi Triangle in late March 2022 and will begin releasing tankōbon volumes (uncut single volume editions) both physically and digitally in November 2022.
Seven Seas’ synopsis describes the manga thusly:
“Teenager Kazamaki Matsuri has long been part of an elite force of ninja exorcists, tasked with fighting malicious ayakashi spirits who threaten Japan–especially those after his childhood friend, the spirit medium Kanade Suzu. As he fiercely protects her, and his relationship with her blooms from friendship into something more, a powerful cat ayakashi vows to get between the lovebirds: by casting a forbidden spell that turns Matsuri into a woman! With no apparent way to undo the spell, Matsuri must continue battling ayakashi–and go back to school–in this new feminine body until he can find a way to turn back.”
The manga has got a voice comic adaptation, which started being released on November 20, 2020. The episodes are being uploaded to Jump Comics’ official YouTube channel. Weekly Shōnen Jump created voice comics for its serialized anime series in October 2020 as part of the Jump Channel renewal. Ayakashi Triangle voice comics are available via the official Jump Comics channel.
