The Love After World Domination Season 2 anime TV show could have had Red Gelato Fudou Aikawa and Reaper Princess Desumi Magahara meeting the parents! But will Koi wa Sekai Seifuku no Ato de Season 2 (Koiseka Season 2) come out now that the manga is ending in November 2022?
On October 6, 2022, Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine announced that the Love After World Domination manga’s ending was being released on November 5, 2022. The final chapter was Chapter 37, which does not leave enough source material for creating a full-length second anime season.
Since the manga ended rather abruptly only months after the anime adaptation premiered it’s been speculated by some manga readers that the manga was canceled due to sales not being given enough boost by the TV show. As such, it seems unlikely that the anime production committee will have Love After World Domination Season 2 renewed for production. But it’s always possible if enough fans demand an anime finale.
The studio and main staff making Love After World Domination Season 2 hasn’t been announced yet.
For the first season, the anime project was produced by Japanese animation Studio Project No. 9, which is best known in recent times for producing the Higehiro anime, Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki, CHOYOYU!: High School Prodigies Have It Easy Even in Another World! anime, and the Didn’t I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life?! anime.
In the future, it’s possible that Studio Project No. 9 will be working on Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki Season 2 since an anime sequel was confirmed in 2022, but not the format.
The first season of the Love After World Domination anime project was helmed by director Kazuya Iwata (Cute Executive Officer, episode director on Deca-Dence). Writer Satoru Sugizawa (Cute Executive Officer) wrote the scripts.
Artist Akemi Kobayashi (Chi’s Sweet Home) was the character designer. Composers Satoshi Houno (Lapis Re:LiGHTs) and Ryuunosuke Kasai created the music.
The Love After World Domination Season 2 OP (opening) and ED (ending) theme song music hasn’t been announced yet.
For the first season, the Love After World Domination OP “Love is an Explosion (Koi wa Explosion)” was performed by Masayoshi Ooishi, while the ED “Love With The World Theorom (Koi wa Sekai Teiri to Tomo ni)” was performed by Dialogue+.
The Love After World Domination anime was streaming on Crunchyroll and VRV (not Netflix, Hulu, Funimation, HIDIVE, or Amazon Prime Video). The series was originally internationally licensed by Funimation, but after Sony purchased both Funimation and Crunchyroll the licensing agreement was shifted over to Crunchyroll.
The first season’s finale, Love After World Domination Episode 12, will release on June 24, 2022.
The 12 volumes were released as two Blu-Ray/DVD volumes. The Love After World Domination Blu-Ray release date was on July 13, 2022, and August 3, 2022, respectively.
- Updated October 8, 2022: Love After World Domination manga ending.
This article provides everything that is known about Love After World Domination World Season 2 (Koi wa Sekai Seifuku no Ato de Season 2 / Koiseka Season 2) and all related news. As such, this article will be updated over time with news, rumors, and analysis. Meanwhile, let’s delve down into what is known for certain
Koi wa Sekai Seifuku no Ato de Season 2 release date predictions: Sequel very unlikely
As of the last update, Studio Project No. 9, producer KlockWorx, Kodansha, or any company related to the production of the anime has not officially confirmed the Love After World Domination Season 2 release date. Nor has the production of a Koi wa Sekai Seifuku no Ato de Season 2 sequel been announced.
Once the news is officially confirmed this article will be updated with the relevant information.
In the meantime, it’s possible to speculate about when, or if, the Koiseka Season 2 release date will occur in the future.
The Love After World Domination reviews are above average for a Rom-Com. The Power Rangers meets Romeo and Juliet premise is an interesting twist on the Tokusatsu genre that borrows heavily from the Super Sentai franchise. The villain group Gekko is also based on Kamen Rider’s SHOCKER.
The story only became stronger once the premise was established and the plot moved beyond the comedy poking fun at the Tokusatsu tropes. But it’s wholesome and sweet even when trying to tell “dark” backstories to the characters.
Unfortunately, the episodes rarely made it high on Crunchyroll’s popular anime list during Spring 2022 like Kaguya-Sama: Love is War Season 3, Komi Can’t Communicate, and Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie. Another negative data point is that anime did not give a huge boost to the sales of the Love After World Domination manga. The series did not make the Oricon Top 20 manga for April 2022, while newer Rom-Com competitors like Komi and Shikimori did receive a major boost.
Therefore, that’s the reason why the manga was probably canceled. As previously noted, it’s uncertain whether the anime production committee will have Love After World Domination renewed for a second season. We’ll just have to wait and see if this quirky series is greenlit for production again.
Unfortunately, another major factor is that the first season adapted more than half of all the manga chapters available in Spring 2022. Since the first season adapted 23 chapters that only leaves only 14 chapters as source material for creating a second season.
And that probably means the producer will hesitate on booking a studio for the future in this very-busy anime industry.
Thus, even in the best-case scenario, it’s going to be a multi-year wait for the Love After World Domination Season 2 release date. But if there’s enough demand they could conceivably adapt the ending as an OVA episdoe.
Love After World Domination Season 2 English dub release date predictions
Crunchyroll’s Love After World Domination English dub release date for the first season was on April 22, 2022, which was only several weeks behind the series premiere on April 8, 2022. New dubbed episodes were released on Fridays at 5:15 PM EST.
Here was Crunchyroll’s Love After World Domination dub cast:
- Anthony DiMascio as Fudou (Red Gelato)
- Lindsay Seidel as Desumi (Reaper Princess)
- Morgan Lauré as Misaki (Yellow Gelato)
- Nazeeh Tarsha as Hayato (Blue Gelato)
- Macy Anne Johnson as Haru (Pink Gelato)
- Jason Lord as Daigo (Green Gelato)
- Charlie Campbell as Professor Big Gelato
- Cris George as Culverin Bear
- Monty Thompson as Narrator
Presumably, now that Funimation is being phased out by Sony, Crunchyroll’s Love After World Domination Season 2 English dub release date will be announced in the future after Koiseka Season 2 has first premiered with Japanese audio and English subtitles.
Hopefully, future English dubbing will be faster once the COVID pandemic winds down and becomes endemic. In order to protect voice actors from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, they were forced to temporarily pause production or take extra safety precautions that resulted in slowed work.
Many English dubbing houses have experienced delays since voice actors often travel to the recording studio. By mid-2022 Crunchyroll began switching from remote recording to in-studio recording again (most of the work is done in their Texas studio).
Love After World Domination manga compared to the anime
The story for the anime TV series is based on the Love After World Domination manga series by writer Hiroshi Noda and illustrator Takahiro Wakamatsu. The two manga creators are also currently collaborating on manga like No Longer Human… In Another World. They also previously finished the Ningyohime no Gomen ne gohan manga in 2019.
Serialized in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine since October 2019, the Koiseka manga series is only up to Volume 5 (which includes up through manga Chapter 31) as of April 15, 2022. Since Chapter 37 is the ending of the story it’s likely that Volume 6 will be the final volume
When the first season’s finale aired the raw chapters were only up to Chapter 34. Manga readers have reported that Chapters 35 and 36 definitely had a “rushed feeling”. Even though a new character was recently introduced, a new villain shows up out of nowhere and destroys both sides. It’s a very serious final battle where Desumi gives her all.
Kodansha USA is releasing the official Love After World Domination manga’s English translation in North America. As of June 7, 2022, the English release was up to Volume 4, which includes up through Chapter 25.
The anime adaptation followed the manga series very closely with a few exceptions. The studio even added some anime original scenes.
Episode 3, the amusement park episode, changed Fudou and Desumi’s disguises from Harry Potter costumes into generic theme park character merch. There were also some Universal Studios Japan references in the manga.
The biggest notable change was directorial in nature since the camera tended to linger or focus on certain areas in order to provide Desumi fan service. What’s kinda creepy is that the manga’s backstory for Green Gelato Daigo Todoroki specifically mentioned in Chapters 12 and 13 that he first met Desumi 10 years ago when she was 8, which would make her an adult in current times, whereas in the anime she was only 7 in the flashback…
On the other, the anime introduced a little bit of censorship in Episode 11. When Desumi had a fever she was stripped naked in the manga in order for Kira to wipe away the sweat. The manga didn’t show anything explicit so it’s surprising the anime version made this change.
The adaptation pacing of the anime was perfect. Only the first episode adapted a single chapter. Otherwise, the remainder of the episodes adapted only two (at least up through Episode 7) or three chapters each.
There was also some rearranging of the timeline, but nothing noticeably changed the plot. For example, Episode 10 adapted Chapters 19 and 20, whereas Episode 11 adapted Chapters 18 and 21.
All in all, the first season’s finale, Koi wa Sekai Seifuku no Ato de Episode 12, found a stopping point corresponding to manga Volume 4: Chapter 23.
It’s the best stopping point since the birth of the ultimate baby monster and its resulting rampage makes for a great climax. Never mind cutting the cake, the dating crisis between Fudou x Desumi also moves their relationship to the next step… since Ultimate Phantom clearly believes they are its parents!
The bad news is that there was not enough source material available for creating a full-length Love After World Domination Season 2. The good news is that English-only manga readers can jump to Volume 4 to start reading toward the final ending.
